Flavor of the Month!

With only 3 books for November to choose from, you would think that this would be an easy choice. That was'nt the case here.It was a close vote ,but November's flavor of the month goes to Matt Dembicki's, "Moments of Verve:vol.1."Congrats,Matt!This was a very unique sketch book.See the full review below & be sure to visit his site and order a copy.

THIEF:The Adventures of John Argent.Vol.2 # 1

$2.00.By-Rene Blansette.Standard comic size.Color cover,B/W ,20 pgs. interior.Rainbow Bridge Productions,P.O. Box 812,Louisville,KY 40201-0812.
Rene has finally took his Thief comic to a color cover in a regular comic format. He also restarts the series with this issue as vol. 2,number 1 , so new readers can jump on board.Rene has such a clean crisp art style that It makes me jealous at times. The story is set in the old days of Europe where most farytales are based from. The character "John Argent" is a young thief who always gets him self in great deals of trouble. He steals from everyone from Kings to Sorcerors.Without giving alot of the story away,I will just say that John goes from being stuck in a bubble to stuck in the middle of an intense situation!

MOMENTS OF VERVE:Vol. 1

$1.50.By-Matt Dembicki.B/W,digest,32 pages interior.www.waspcomics.com.
This is a sketchbook of Matt's early drawings from high school & college. It also has 2 short stories that he did a year or two ago.One of these stories was an exercise...penciled,inked ,& lettered completely with his right hand."Big deal" you say...well he just so happens to be left handed! This first comes across as just another sketch book, but soon becomes much more. The artist is not afraid to show you his early works & scribbles. You get to see how he has grown as an artist and how he challenges him self with the left handed experiment. To me, when you see where they started...you respect the high level they are at now even more.

GREEN PIECE:Tears of a Clone.

$2.00.Jason Degroot-story & Adam Owen-art.21 page,digest.Color cover with greyscaled interior.To see more go to ...www.greenpiece.net.
This is another stand alone issue of Geen Piece that we have come to expect from Adam & Jason. This time Green Piece must crack the case of who killed theHigh Chancellor's Clone.Adam's art is good as alway's and the special effects on the space ship's & cities are getting even better.I would still like to see Adam do a 3 part story or give us a cliff hanger.I still enjoyed the book as I do all the G.P. comics & this one will keep you guessing to the end!

REASONS I SHOULD NOT BE ON A TALK SHOW.

STATIC PRESS/$1.00.Mini-comic,b&w,16 pages.MATURE READERS.
-This one is also from Static Press. It is drawn by Jason Axtell who playes himself & he gives us plenty of reasons why he should'nt be on a talk show.Pretty original idea & as you can see from the cover,he pokes fun at a certain talk show host. The things he say's are sometimes crude & sometimes shocking, but you will definatly laugh.

CHRONICLE # 1

STATIC PRESS/standard comic size,color cover,B&W interior,36 pages,$3.00 .www.staticstudios.org.
-This is a collection of stories & illustrations from artist B.R. Phillips. There is some great black & white art work in here using what seems to be ink wash & white acrylic. He is also able to change his art style to fit each of the 3 stories inside the book. This one is worth picking up if you enjoy finding that indy talent who thinks outside the box.
